Course Overview
Many people take on positions as leaders or managers without any formal training or assessment. Leadership and management at any level are real skills that can make a tangible difference to team morale, effectiveness and overall business performance.

NWT offers NVQs in Team Leadership at level 2 and Management at levels 3 and 4. These provide individuals with the confidence and structured approach they need to take both themselves and their team to the next level.

NVQs assess an individual’s ability to carry out their job competently and professionally. Employers benefit from knowing they have confident and able people managers in place at every level , while employees are equipped with the skills to grow in their leadership role.

NVQs are based on the role the candidate is actually performing, and leadership courses are tailored to suit the number and type of people being managed. Before the programme begins, we speak to both the employer and the employee before drawing up the course content to ensure that the assessment has the maximum relevance to their position. We also choose the methods of assessment which best suit the indivdual’s learning style.

At the introductory level, the NVQ assesses skills such as managing resources, providing leadership, allocating work and developing productive relationships with colleagues. The higher (management) NVQs look to individuals to develop these skills, as well as addressing more strategic activities such as developing networks, encouraging innovation, leading change and making and communicating decisions.

Teaching Methods
This is an entirely work-based assessment. Our assessors visit candidates in their place of work to review their achievements and abilities. Normally a candidate would also be expected to complete an additional 2 hours of work per week, and collect evidence of their competence in order to compile a portfolio.

Duration
Normally around 6 months.

Course Location
The assessor will assess their candidates in their work place.
