Customer Service

Course Overview
More and more companies are realising that Customer Service is a way of setting themselves above the competition. Consumers and businesses alike judge the companies they deal with on the quality of service they receive quality which is largely dependent on the skill level of the staff delivering the service. With this recognition, customer service is also becoming an increasingly attractive path for people looking for a fulfilling, people-centred career.

NWT offers Apprenticeships in Customer Service as well as NVQs at levels 2,3 and 4. NVQs assess an individual’s ability to carry out their job competently and professionally. For employers, this ensures that their staff are equipped with the key skills they need, while employees get recognition for their talents. NVQs give employee training a real structure, as well as providing a boost to morale and confidence. Apprenticeships offer a similar structure, offering those aged 16-18 a chance to gain recognised qualifications while earning.

Unlike more academic qualifications, NVQs are based on the job the candidate is actually performing. We speak to both the employer and the employee before drawing up each individual programme to ensure that the assessment has the maximum relevance to their position, and that we choose assessment methods which best suit the indivdual’s learning style. We also make sure that both parties are genuinely committed to the programme as a substantial time commitment is needed to successfully complete it.

Customer Service NVQs assess a wide range of abilities, from dealing with customers and maintaining effective relationships to promoting the organisation, delivering promises, resolving problems and ensuring compliance with the law.

Teaching Methods
This is an entirely work-based assessment. Our assessors visit candidates in their place of work to review their achievements and abilities. Normally a candidate would also be expected to complete an additional 2 hours of work per week, and collect evidence of their competence in order to compile a portfolio.

Duration
Normally around 6 months.

Course Location
The assessor will assess their candidates in their work place.
