Joy Townley
Managing Director

Joy joined North Wessex Training as Managing Director in 2003 and she has been the driving force of the business ever since. Her entrepreneurial attitude and effervescent personality, combined with a burning desire to make a difference to people’s lives, ensures that she has all the attributes required to head-up a forward-thinking, dynamic organization.

She graduated from Bath with a teacher-training degree and cut her educational teeth in Stroud, Worcester and Chippenham. She taught a range of subjects including design & textiles, management & communication and business studies. Joy then joined the public sector working for the self-funded business unit at Bath & North East Somerset council, before successfully applying for the MD’s role at NWT.

Her experience of working with young people, allied to an innate understanding of government funded programmes, are both key skills in her current position. She operates an open management culture and inspires a “can do” attitude among her team. Over the past five years, Joy has overseen the rapid expansion of the company, which has manifested itself in the company’s expansion across Wiltshire – most recently with new centres in Trowbridge & Chippenham. In her own words; “I am delighted with the progress made by North Wessex Training since I joined, but there is still a long way to go. In today’s fast-paced employment environment, there is lots of opportunity to help people of all ages either to find jobs or develop their existing careers. For me, this is still the most satisfying part of the job – giving people the chance to maximize their potential.”
