Course Overview
With people working within health and social care often feeling that their skills are undervalued, NVQs are a structured way to provide recognition to carers, provide career advancement and give the profession the credibility it deserves.
NWT offers NVQs at levels 2,3 and 4.
An NVQ at level two is mandatory for people working within the health and social care professions, while level three and four qualifications help people to further develop their skills and careers right up to management level.
NVQs assess an individual’s ability to carry out their job competently and professionally. Employers benefit from knowing they have confident and able professionals in place at every level, with the progressive system of qualifications providing incentives for people to grow in their roles.
NVQs are individually tailored, depending on the role the candidate is actually performing. We speak to both the employer and the employee before drawing up the course content to ensure that the assessment has the maximum relevance to their position. We also choose the methods of assessment which best suit the indivdual’s learning style.
The Health and Social Care NVQs cover a broad range of skills including effective communication, health and safety, and the development of knowledge and practice. There are also a large number of optional units which depend on the specific job being carried out.
Teaching Methods
This is an entirely work-based assessment. Our assessors visit candidates in their place of work to review their achievements and abilities. Normally a candidate would also be expected to complete an additional 2 hours of work per week, and collect evidence of their competence in order to compile a portfolio.
Duration
Normally around 6 months.
Course Location
The assessor will assess their candidates in their work place.
